Salfords Primary School Awarded Top Science Accolade: PSQM

We have been celebrating the great news that Salfords Primary School has been awarded a Primary Science Quality Mark.

Our school has been recognised for a commitment to excellence in science teaching and the award enables us to work with others to share good practice while supported by local experts.

It is a fantastic achievement for our school and we are delighted that this award has been made.

We are heading into half-term knowing that our school is continuing to improve and we couldn’t be more pleased. Our science lead, Daniel Welch, has been working hard to achieve this quality mark and it means a great deal to all of us.

“Gaining a Primary Science Quality Mark is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high. Children are engaging with great science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science as well as secure scientific understanding,” said Jane Turner, National Director of the PSQM.

The Primary School Quality Mark programme ensures effective leadership of science and is supported by professional development. It is led by the University of Hertfordshire’s School of Education. Since its launch in 2010, more than 3,500 schools across the country have achieved the award.
