Year 1 School Trip

Swifts and Sparrows classes spent the day at Wakehurst on Tuesday celebrating the end of their Enchanted Woodland topic.

The children explored the potting shed and the equipment the gardeners used. They found out what a seed needs to germinate and grow into a plant. Each child planted a sunflower seed which we look forward to seeing fully grown.

The children also took part in pond dipping. They observed the creatures under a magnifying glass. Using a key, they worked scientifically to identify and name what they found. This included: water boatmen, leech, nymph, newt and snails.

We finished a day in the sunshine with a woodland walk and an explore on the tree stump trail. The children behaved impeccably and made all of the adults that attended very proud!
