Harriers & Hawks

Welcome to Year 4!

In year 4 this year, the children will be immersing themselves within our topics of:

  1. Groovy Greeks
  2. Magnificent Mountains
  3. Word on the Street
  4. Circle of Life
  5. Terrible Tudors
  6. Mad Scientists!

Over the year, the children will get to dress up like Ancient Greeks, attend a residential at Juniper Hall, build their own mini-beast hotel and take a trip back into Tudor times.

We hope to develop the children’s geographic, historical enquiry, artistic and technological skills to allow them the freedom to enjoy their learning and experience a variety of opportunities for independence.

In Maths we will cover using written formal methods for all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and subtraction). The children will also cover fractions and decimals, geometry, and statistics.

The children will get to write a variety of different types of texts such as stories, brochures, newspaper articles, and poems all based on our current topic.

Home learning

To deepen their understanding and to build on these creative elements in school, we have included several enrichment tasks in their new homework menu. Please take the time to support your child when completing their homework to share their excitement of this topic.

When you spend time with your child at home, please encourage them to broaden the range of books they read with you. We also thank you for your support and dedication to allow the children valuable and additional reading time at home.

Our PE day is Wednesday.

The children are brilliant at remembering their PE kits but please remind them on their PE day.

If your child does not have a Salfords PE kit (as it is being ordered or misplaced), could you please try to ensure that blue or black coloured items of clothing are used.

Finally, we would like to thank you for the continued support you give as parents to our Year 4 children and Salfords Primary School. Our pupils try to show as many school values as possible on a daily basis because they aspire to be great role models for the other children!

If you ever have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact either class teacher.

Thank you and 'Be your best'!

Miss Rose and Mr Chilcott
