Pupil Leadership Team

At Salfords, we believe in involving our children in every aspect of their schooling. We have an active PLT who meet regularly to discuss their learning and school issues. We believe that by listening to our pupils we can adapt our teaching to suit their needs and interests, allowing them to be their best. The PLT also discusses practical issues affecting the school such as playtimes or behaviour, making them truly part of the running of the school.

Core PLT and Wider PLT

The core PLT members are Year 5 and 6 pupils who have applied to become core members. They have to submit a written application detailing how they have represented the school values, how they have worked well as part of a team and how they have already contributed positively to school life. The other core PLT members then discuss their application and choose whether to invite them to be a PLT member.

Two wider PLT members are elected from each class from Year 1 to Year 4 and take class and school issues to the whole PLT. The members then feedback the things discussed at meetings to their classes and teachers. Each meeting is chaired by the core PLT members with tadult support when needed.

Ultimately, the aims of the PLT are to make sure that our school is a safe and happy place for our children. It provides an opportunity for children to have a place to voice their concerns and to suggest improvements, knowing that their ideas will be acted upon.

Equally, the PLT are involved in other aspects of school leadership such as being involved in the interview process for new members of staff to monitoring and feeding back on lessons.

The Core Leadership Team from Year 5&6 are: Max, Adam, Daniel and Beth
